About Us

"Our purpose is to continue to help poor children, educate them and provide them a good standard of living. Our mission is to impart education and build careers for girls from slums, broken families and single parents"

Talwar Foundation, is a non-profit charitable foundation. Registered under section 80g (V) of the income tax act 1961. It was established by Late Shri O.N. Talwar in the 1981. It began with an urge to provide help and support to R.K. Puram based girl’s slum area. Soon it started providing assistance to girls struggling with acute poverty and hoped to inspire, enrich lives, and build a better future for them. As time progressed, it widened its horizons and began to encourage low-income families specially women, for whom basic commodities like food, shelter and education were mere dreams. For over 30 years, we have been working in the social sector to achieve this.

Our motive is to enable underprivileged children overcome the various barriers in their lives that limit their access to education and a good standard of living. In addition, we are committed to women empowerment as we make good education a reality for them by breaking all the personal limitations of the society and family.

Women go through various phases maintaining sacrificial roles of a mother, a sister, a wife and a daughter. Irrespective of the adversities and ignominies, suffered by women, they possess resilient spirits which sustain them. The most famous saying said by the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru is “To awaken the people, it is the women who must be awakened. Once she is on the move, the family moves, the village moves, the nation moves. To get the high level goal of women empowerment, it should be promoted from the childhood in each and every family. It needs women to be strong physically, mentally and socially. Since better education can be started at home from childhood, the upliftment of women needs a healthy family to bring a holistic development of the nation.

Talwar Foundation’s Vision is simple; the emergence of women, young or mature from all the transgression and iniquity towards victory, reformed conditions and to enable the disadvantaged children with the ability to empower themselves with holistic growth and development. We decided to fuel the young minds  with knowledge and opportunities so as to meet the growing demands of the country; that is English and IT skills. We also evoked in them confidence so that they are able to communicate their learning.

To ensure sustained improved financial condition of women, Talwar Foundation, started Vocational Foundational & skill training Foundational skills like stitching & tailoring, English speaking, Beautician &  IT Skils helping  them  with  employment  opportunity &  embarking women on a journey  toward self-independence.

We are also working to empower the underprivileged children through relevant education, innovative healthcare and market-focused livelihood programmes. Talwar Foundation is involved in providing education to the girl child and imparting education in such a way that after completing the basic school education they can sustain their livelihood with the skill which they have attained during various training programmes.
